11 games played, 10 wins, 411 points for 92 against.
The one loss was to Excelsior the perennial heavy weights of C rugby, was not helped by the Captain Ray Harvey deciding that would be a good day to get married.
That game aside the lads have dominated all other teams and provided we win the last game of the round against Wyndham will finish top of the table.
All expectations are the final will be a repeat of last year’s P-OB v’s Excelsior encounter, except this year we should have home ground advantage and hopefully take the honours.
While enjoying the on field victory’s the team is still trying to uphold the tradition of C’s rugby with everyone getting a run and having the best themed bus trips.
The “Canadian Tuxedo” trip to Te Anau show cased the commitment to art of dressing up including a stunning cross dressing effort by Wade.
On the field the team has enjoyed the wealth of possession gained by the big forward pack, which more often than not is converted into points by the strong running back line.
Players to stand out so far this year in the backs are; Shane, Yap, Keith, Wade, Laffu, Jarred, Ray & Jade while in the forwards Dave, Ette, Mike, Adam, Brendon, Al, Joseph, Cooz, Stiff, Divs, Geoff Ryan, Leo, Ants, Bob & Gary continue to impress with a good amount (often) vocal direction coming from Phil (and Steve in a cameo run v Te Anau) in the Halfback spot.
While no team can function without the skilled support of management/water boys/tee boys/and valuables bag holder we would not like to take any of the limelight off the players above, although a couple of the management team joined the boys wallowing in the mud in the final minutes of the Te Anau match.
With a place already confirmed in the finals the lads are fine tuning the things that work for us, while eliminating the moves that don’t.
· Forwards kicking the ball
· Tight forwards standing in the back line
· Backs backchatting the ref
· The Sonny Bill pass...
· Picking a player of the day that can win the pint skull
