Always a big game on the calendar. The bad weather during the week settled down for a cool but fine Saturday morning out at centrepoint #4. Extra pressure was put on the stand in back coach (who has never been a back) as Bobby was spending a few days in Doubtful Sound terrorising the local wildlife. With plenty of support from both sides of the ground the boys got stuck into it with Marist displaying good skills in driving over the ball in the ruck/tackle throughout the game. The 1/2 time score was 3 - 2 to POB.
Heading into the last 5 minutes POB held a good lead of 5 -2 however 2 quick tries for Marist by Ben Burns made the score 5 - 4 so the final whistle was very welcome indeed.
The whole POB backline played well with Ethan Hair and Louie Patterson being particularly effective in the midfield. Players to stand out in the forwards were Ben Jennings and Callum Robertson. A good team effort which will need to be repeated next week against the Marist green team.
