| Well what a season we have had so far; plenty of entertainment, laughs and of course the occasional frustration!!. Since the formation of this side, which came about due to the large number of players in the original Blue and Gold teams, our numbers have progressively grown to an energetic and enthusiastic 16. The side has been based around a small number of second year Rippa players that has been really well complemented by those new to the sport. Much of the team is made up of sibling sets, which has resulted in a wide range of ages and abilities within the group. Winter illnesses and injuries have prevented our large player numbers limiting individual’s game time most weeks. This has been helped by most other sides being able to match our numbers or allowing us to top up their sides with our over fill. Only once so far this season have we been forced to split the team in two and run them alternatively against the opposition. |
The team has progressed rapidly as its members have started to pick up and latch onto the games rules and the fundamentals of team play. In recent weeks it’s been really pleasing to see how they are starting to inter-pass and get each other involved in the game more. Individual ability is in abundance and isn’t an issue but we still have plenty team play areas to work on.
The players and coaches would like to thank all the parents/grandparents and guardians for their help and support to date and hope to see this continue for the remainder of the season. They would also like to thank “McDonald’s” for their generous “Player of the Day” and “Encouragement Awards”, and also for the sponsored Rippa gear.
