The game against Star was always going to be a big one at their home ground. Star had been a huge challenge in the night game in the first round with the boys scraping home with a one try win. Conditions were excellent at Star and both teams played well in the first half, with good tackling and skills on both sides the half time the score was tied up at 1 try each. The 2nd half saw the POB forwards continue their excellent 2nd round form and they started to make some progress up the middle of the field. POB dominated territory in the 2nd half and through good work team tries were scored up front and out wide. Ben Jennings scored a couple of tries after some good work close to the line while Josh Murrell scored a great try off a Toby Milne grubber kick to make the game safe. Final score 5 - 1 to POB with tries to Josh Murrell (2) Ben Jennings (2) and Ethan Hair. With a bye for the last round the team and coaches can put their feet up and look back on the season with satisfaction after remaining unbeaten. Team work, fitness and improving skills were evident in the 2nd round when all the other teams were picking their game up as well which was great to see. Thanks to Gareth & Bobby for all the time they have put into coaching the boys. |
