2:30 game this Saturday afternoon v Counties with Rugby Southland running a kids (U13) wear your club colours promotion. Rugby Southland are aware that most of the jerseys have been handed back in after the end of the junior rugby season, so if you haven't got an old jersey wear your club hoody or something in the club colours and you should be ok.
Great result for the Stags v Canterbury... can't beat the age old Southland tactic of dragging a better team down to your level and turning the game into an arm wrestle. Good work by all four POB players who were on the paddock.

This week the boys move on from the wind and rain swept Centrepoint #5 to the exotic location of Wrights Bush and will have at least 4 games so head out to the Bush if you are looking for something to do on Sunday. Southland 7s Draw 28th September: Time 11.00am Blues v Wrights Bush 11.15am POB v Marist 11.30am Baba’s v Blues 11.45am Marist v Wrights Bush 12.00pm POB V Baba’s 12.15pm Blues v Marist 12.30pm Baba’s v Wrights Bush 12.45pm POB v Blues 1.00pm Marist v Baba’s 1.15pm Wrights Bush v POB 1.45pm 1 v 4 Semi Final 2.00pm 2 v 3 Semi Final All Blacks v Argentina Sun morning to look forward to, kickoff at 11:10am... daylight savings kicks in on Sunday as well so make sure you work out what time to get the roast on so it is ready to eat at 1/2 time. Stags v Canty 4:30 Sunday arvo as well... this would have been a game the Stags had a chance of sneaking under the radar for but losing mid week to North Harbour will have given Canty bit of a shake up but yeah... GO THE STAGS!!!! ![]() Wasn't 7s weather on Sunday but a good turn out of Div2 & Prem players saw the POB 7s team go pretty well. Great to see Doof and Barney helping the boys out as well. The 2nd 7s tournament is on out at Wrights Bush this Sunday. Not a good result for the Stags against Manawatu... also looks like Manawatu have a pretty serious anti streaker policy in place... The games don't get any easier for the Stags this weekend with a Sunday arvo game against Canterbury but they are due for some luck. Good crowd at the midweek game but not a great day at the office for the Stags who are on the road to Manawatu this weekend - 7:30pm kick off Sat nite...
Whats on in Vegas??? Southland Rams v Canty league final at Rugby Park 2:30pm Sat arvo which a few of the Div2 guys will be going along to, to support Yogi, Tin & Rock. Sun morning out at Centrepoint the POB 7s team will be hitting the track on ground #5... 10:15am v Marist 10:45am v Tokonui 11:15am v Blues Semis and final at 12:30 & 1:20pm. The POB 7s are being coached this year by Daniel Rolton & Oscar Jenkins with Braden Diack helping out on the managerial front. Not to sure what the game plan will be but with Rolly helping out with the coaching a ruthless dedication to fitness can be expected... Great win by the Stags on Saturday night against Northland, also good to see the Southland Rams come out on top in their game against Tasman which kicked off after the Stags game.
Speaking of Tasman the Stags front up again against the Tasman Mako's 7:30pm Wed night... so give The Block a miss and get down to Rugby Park... 2 POB players named in the squad today... Looks like it is going to be a nice day in Vegas so get all your jobs done then get down to Rugby Park at 4:30 and support the Stags.... And if you are keen for a double header kicking off at 6:30 after the Stags game are the Southland Rams (League team) v Tasman. Featuring in the Rams lineup are POB players Rocky, Yogi & Tin. Good article from the Southland Times previewing the big game on Saturday afternoon....
http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/rugby/provincial/10489424/Club-rugby-culture-behind-Northlands-success Also keep an eye on the Southland Times, they normally have vouchers you can cut out to get a couple of kids onto the terrace for free. If you knew Brian (Blizz) Cowie from when he played Senior & Senior B rugby for Old Boys his work colleagues are raising funds to help him receive treatment to help him recover from a stroke he suffered a couple of years ago.
Brian is currently in the United States undergoing the treatment and by all reports it is going well. If you would like to contribute to the fund raising effort check out the givealittle website: http://www.givealittle.co.nz/cause/blizzrehabilitationfund Big game this weekend for the Stags at Rugby Park, kick off is at the family friendly time of 4:35pm. After a good start to the season with 2 wins the Stags haven't gone as well as they would have liked in the last two games against Otago and Taranaki and will be looking to put things right against Northland.
Also a good deal going if you want to buy a terrace ticket pack... |
