Good win by the Premiers against Blues on Saturday and as mentioned earlier in the week great to see Kurt/Todd/James Schrader combo out on the track as well.

The POB won Cs 21 - 7 down at Blues as well.

The Forklifts NZ / Harvey Tanks Div3 team were on the bus to Tuatapere to take on Waiau Star. Waiau Star performed well and were up by about 30 points at 1/2 time. The POB boys had a good crack in the 2nd 1/2 and final score was 48 - 5.

Despite the score it was a great team effort with forwards playing in the backs, coach Dennis Thompson putting in a full 80 minutes at 1st 5 and after a couple of weeks reserving for the Premiers El Presidente Regan Johns stretched his legs on the track in the 2nd 1/2 as well. Also good to see team sponsor Rhys Harvey (Harvey Tanks) taking the option of joining the team for the bus trip back to vegas.

Also thanks to ref Jimmy Curran for reffing a good game.

Some photos from the Premier game v Star at the club on Saturday. Great conditions saw a excellent turn out of supporters at the game. It was a game of two halves with Star running down the good lead the POB team had built up in the 1st 1/2.
Training is in full swing for junior rugby which officially kicks off on duck shooting weekend. Great conditions for skills and fitness training for all the U13 boys on Tuesday night but unfortunately this isn't the Gold Coast and there will be plenty of mud going home in parents cars in a week or two.

Premiers beat Marist

4/13/2015

A brief synopsis of the game -

The Forde Auto Services/Windsor St Physiotherapy Premiers visited Miller Street on Saturday and held out a 24-22 win over the Doolies.

Playing with a strong wind at their backs the boys were a little too eager to get over the advantage line and missed a couple of early opportunities. Marist worked their way up the field and got over mid first half.

Forwards dominated set phase, backs looked good at times. Continuity something to work on second half.

Halftime 10-3 or 10-7? cant remember.
But thinking back i believe we scored one out wide early so lets run with 10-7.

A good talk from coach Matt Saunders regarding their manhood at half time, sparked life into the team second half and playing into that strong wind the lads went gangbusters through the middle of the field to score some cracking tries.

A four engine train went past the ground which halted play so the ref's scrum call could be heard.

Fast forward to the end of the game the Boys were up 24-15 with five to go, then Marist scored and converted to make it 24-22. A tense last couple of minutes ensured but with some good defence and the ability to retain the ball. It was happy times for all involved.

Well done boys and thanks to those who visited Miller Street.

Forklifts NZ POB Div3 went down 27 - 24 to Central Pirates out at Les George. The team were a bit rusty after having a bye in the first round and Central Pirates got away to a good start. The Div3 boys kept in touch and scored a late 7 pointer which was a good reward for the effort that was put in.

The 2nd match up of the night saw the Forde Auto Services POB Premiers scrape home 22 - 19 v the Babas. The game was a huge step up physically from the first game against Midlands and it was an arm wrestle all the way. A last minute penalty saw POB take the points.
